UPDATE II: Things are working normally for the most part now. Registration is NOT required, but you can use TypeKey if you are registered. I plan on requiring registration as soon as I can get the templates to cooperate, but for now it is wide open.
UPDATE: ARGH!!!The whole thing is hopelessly screwed up now. I will have to try and fix it in the morning. So if the comments don’t work, my apologies.
I am afraid I have had to impose a drastic solution to the spam problem we have been having here at CM. Those who don’t have their own blogs might not realise that comment spam is a huge problem. Spammers use programs to insert spam directly into comments to increase their Google rankings and sell more of whatever crap they are peddling. This has recently required me to spend a great deal of time deleting these comments. At first I tried to use MT Blacklist but this still meant wasted hours, albeit easier ones, deleting and banning spammers. When I upgraded to MT 3.14 it meant increased comment control and moderation. I wavered on whether I wanted to force people to register in order to comment. As I was trying to make that decision I got a large batch of spam. That clinched it.
So now if you want to leave comments you must be registered with Typekey. It shouldn’t be a major inconvenience as it is easy and free. Plus you can use it on a bunch of different sites. And of course if you don’t want to register you can always email us at the addresses in the upper left.
I appreciate your cooperation and thanks for reading.
