Cha, Cha, Changes . . .

I am finally determined to do what I have thought about doing for a while now: combining my two blogs. I simple do not post enough to either blog to warrant separating my posts. Plus, since I only rarely post on sports or politics on my other blog, I can combine the two and still retain the focus on books. You can see the new (simpler and faster loading) look over at my personal blog. I really like the new look. I have decided to keep the name Collected Miscellany since it is an apt description of my blogs.

The question I have is how exactly to pull off the combination. I have had a couple of ideas. One, was to simply point this domain at the other blog. I would export all my posts to the other blog and simply start posting only there. Another, related, idea was to start posting at the other blog but leave this blog here. I wouldn’t export any of the old posts and I would leave the archives here but point the main index to the other blog. One last idea was to have this site mirror the other blog. I am not a techie so I am not sure how this works, but a good example is About Last Night. Both www.terryteachout.com and the more complex Arts Journal address display the exact same content and design.

What I am wondering is what would be the easiest and most effective way to transition from two blogs to one. If any of you have strong opinions about this or have helpful ideas, please feel free to weigh in via email or in the comment section. I plan to finalize any transition by the end of the year and start 2006 fresh and new.
