Still catching up links

Here are some links as I continue to get organized and acclimatized to life (online and off) after a week away.

– The always entrepreneurial Bud Parr (of Chekhov’s Mistress and 400 Windmills fame) has started something interesting called MetaxuCafe. If you haven’t already, check it out (here is a handy about page).

Bruce Holland Rogers sends word of his unique short story subscription service. Here is how Bruce describes it:

I’m a multiple award-winning writer of short fiction, and I offer a subscription to my short-short stories by e-mail. For $5 a year, I send my subscribers three short-short stories each month. I have over 600 subscribers in some 60 countries, and running the service has resulted in some individual stories being translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Chinese, Farsi, and Pashto.

Sounds interesting, no? More information and examples can be found on the web site.

– Speaking of email content, Bold Type’s year end issue is out.

– In case you don’t pay attention to the news, Stan Berenstain, co-creator of the Berenstain Bears series of books, died Nov. 26 of complications from cancer.

– In other news, apparently Thomas Friedman’s book The World is Flat is not only a boring and unimaginative rehash of conventional wisdom dressed up as groundbreaking analysis, but the original cover art was a copyright infringement!

About the author

Kevin Holtsberry

I work in communications and public affairs. I try to squeeze in as much reading as I can while still spending time with my wife and two kids (and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan Wolverines during football season – oh, and watching golf too).
