You're thoughts mirror my own. I'm not a person to label an entire genre (though we've also been discussing the fact that YA isn't a genre as much as a category of books) as fluff. I think we all pretty much agree that any genre/category of books is going to have what each of us independently considers fluff. To muddy the waters even further is what I consider fluff others may not -- what exactly is the definition of "fluff". At any rate, YA may not be appealing to a read just as literary fiction is not appealing to me. However I wouldn't be inclined to dismiss it out of the gate. Great post!
